What causes a membership to end?

Honor Society® membership only ends if you choose to close your account or if it is closed for policy-related reasons.

Membership does not end due to graduation, leaving school, changing schools, stopping payment, or canceling a participation level.

Definition

Honor Society membership is ongoing and member-controlled.
Membership ends only through voluntary account closure by the member or through enforcement of Honor Society policies. Membership and participation levels are separate.

What does not cause membership to end?

The following actions do not end membership:

  • Graduating from school

  • Leaving school temporarily or permanently

  • Changing schools or transferring

  • Becoming a professional

  • Stopping payment for a participation level

  • Canceling, downgrading, or allowing a participation level to end

  • A billing period ending

  • A payment failing or a card expiring

In all of these cases, membership continues.

What causes membership to end?

Membership may end in the following situations:

1. You choose to close your account

You may voluntarily close your Honor Society account at any time. When you do, membership ends at your request.

2. Account closure for policy-related reasons

In limited cases, an account may be closed due to violations of Honor Society policies or standards, such as misuse of the platform or violations of applicable terms.

Membership does not end automatically and is not time-limited.

Is canceling a participation level the same as ending membership?

No.

  • Canceling a paid participation level returns your account to free Basic membership

  • Membership remains active unless you explicitly close your account

Participation levels do not control membership status.

What happens if my membership ends?

If membership ends:

  • Your account is closed

  • You no longer have access to member areas of the platform

  • You stop receiving member communications

Membership ends only through the causes listed above.

Can I prevent my membership from ending?

Yes.

As long as you do not close your account and remain in good standing with Honor Society policies, your membership continues.

Membership does not expire.
