If a payment fails, your Honor Society® membership does not end.
Honor Society® membership is free. A failed payment only affects a paid participation level and does not cancel or interrupt membership.
Definition
Membership and payment processing are separate.
A failed payment may temporarily affect a paid participation level, but it does not create, cancel, or expire Honor Society membership.
What does it mean if a payment fails?
A payment may fail for several common reasons, such as:
An expired or replaced credit or debit card
Insufficient funds or bank restrictions
Incorrect billing information
Temporary issues with the payment processor
When this happens, only the paid participation level is affected.
What happens to my participation level if a payment fails?
If a payment for a paid participation level fails:
You may receive a notification to update your billing information
Paid participation benefits may be paused or end at the conclusion of the billing period
Your account continues at the free Basic level if payment is not resolved
A failed payment does not cancel membership.
Does my membership end if a payment fails?
No.
If a payment fails:
Your Honor Society® membership remains active
Your membership does not expire
You continue to be recognized as an Honor Society® member
Membership is not dependent on successful payment.
Do I still have access to scholarships and opportunities?
Yes.
As long as your membership is active:
You continue to have full access to the Honor Society scholarships platform and available opportunities
Participation levels do not affect scholarship access
Scholarship eligibility and selection are based on each scholarship’s criteria, not on payment status.
What should I do if my payment fails?
If you want to keep your paid participation level:
Sign in to your Honor Society account
Go to your Billing or Membership settings
Update your payment method or billing information
Confirm the changes
Once payment is successfully processed, paid participation benefits resume according to the billing terms.
Can I re-add a paid participation level later?
Yes.
If a paid participation level ends due to a failed payment, you may add or re-add a participation level at any time in the future.
Many members choose to do so later when it aligns with their goals or milestones.
Why doesn’t a failed payment cancel membership?
Honor Society is designed to be membership-first and inclusive.
This means:
Membership is free and ongoing
Paid participation levels are optional
Members keep their membership regardless of payment issues
