Do you wear a ring facing you?

There’s a long-standing tradition for how to position a class ring, but it’s ultimately a personal choice.

Common tradition

Many students follow this custom:

  • While still in school:
The school name or insignia is worn facing toward you, so you can read it when you look down at your hand.

  • After graduation:
Some people rotate the ring so the insignia faces outward, symbolizing the transition into the next chapter.

Your preference is what matters

While the tradition is popular, it isn’t a rule. You can position your ring in whichever direction feels most meaningful or comfortable to you.

Your class ring is a personal symbol of your journey — wear it the way that feels right for you.
